Artist's Statement

Since ultrasound can be used intravascularly, I chose to have a view of an artery painted over a representation of sound waves. The artery has two slices in it that allow the viewer to see inside the artery, just as an actual ultrasound would do. To the left, it is pixilated, while to the right, it is a clear picture -- this combination depicts the higher resolution. Since ultrasounds are in black and white, I chose to use only shades of gray.
