Strike three, you’re out! The game is won; the series is over. However, for some pitchers, the problems have just started. Many young baseball pitchers are discovering all too well the consequences of throwing a good game. Overextending of the throwing arm can lead to severe and problematic injuries. My art symbolizes the biomechanics behind throwing a baseball. The use of flowing pipe captures the fluidity of the human body upon releasing a vast sum of energy. A pitcher’s body weakens and deteriorates over time. This occurrence is symbolized through the use of naked copper, which given time, oxidizes and weakens.
