Artist's Statement

I have chosen to do Mark Silver’s research on normothermia because of its remarkable effects on the human body. Conclusions from the study indicate patients having both reduced pain and a shorter recovery time. The photo is an organic rendering of a body’s changes while under both healthy and unhealthy surgical conditions. There is an evident rivalry between cool and warm colors. The red side represents the warm, healthy blood, and the blue represents hypothermic, unhealthy blood. On the red side, you can see intricate detail. This is an interpretation of the inside of a body working at its full potential. Whereas on the blue side, it’s cold and bare, personifying the lack of normothermia.
