Artist's Statement

My image was inspired by Emily Lanzola and her study about Recovery in Total Knee Replacement Surgery. I used graphic design to convey the importance of technology. My design is composed of X-rays of knees, some with a knee replacement and others without. The colors red and blue represent blood. Blue is for internal blood and red is for blood exposed during surgery. The bright colors symbolize the hope of a new life. The clock image in the middle is the time passed while healing in the hospital. The grid layout gives the illusion of recovery occurring out of the hospital.
