Shortly after the injection is made, the body floods with color like a pinball machine that hit the jackpot. It is Las Vegas lights under the rib cage. It is New York City in the heart. Cardiac catheterization builds this visual in my head. My art symbolizes a body flowing through the steps of catheterization. Under the rib cagelike piece in the middle lies the injection along the right side, and the highway-inthe- sky tubing along the top and bottom. The structure in the bottom left corner symbolizes pressure, as needed to control bleeding in heart catheterization.

The abundance of color represents life and the many shapes and figures unify those colors into a single being. However, after undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures, the man in the painting has been diagnosed with heart disease. The pink and red heart signifies the heart problems that lie within him; but the innocence and exuberance of the colors can, at the same time, exemplify a beacon of hope. Those who are living with heart disease can do their best to lead normal lives with the help of doctors who take care of them to keep their hearts beating and their lives going.

One's health is precious and it is vital to focus on keeping and preserving it as best as possible. Exercising and eating right are rudimentary ways to keep your body fit and healthy. Unfortunately, many don't take the time to practice them, and as a result, suffer complications such as clotting of the arteries. We only are given one life and I feel it is our responsibility to ourselves and others who love us, to take care of our bodies as best we can. My collage, I feel, exemplifies the body and the necessity to focus on being cognizant of its condition.
