Glossary of Cancer Terms
A raised growth on the surface of the skin or other organ.
The persons condition is closely monitored, but treatment
does not begin until symptoms appear or change. Also called observation.
A surgical procedure used to treat localized pancreas cancer. The
surgeon removes the head of the pancreas, the duodenum, a portion
of the stomach and other nearby tissues.
White blood cells (WBC) (Leukocytes)
The blood cells that fight infection. This is part of a complete
blood count (CBC) the normal range for white blood cells in an adult
is 4.0-11.0 K/uL. (ranges may vary from laboratory to laboratory).
Wilms Tumor (Nephroblastoma)
The most common kidney cancer in children.
