RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIESThe American Center for Reproductive Medicine conducts basic science and clinical research into male and female infertility and assisted reproduction.
One of the major goals of our Center is to better understand the causes of male infertility and to design studies aimed at understanding and improving semen quality. We hope this line of research will result in strategies that will enable us to use the healthiest spermatozoa for fertilization to improve the chances of pregnancy through artificial reproductive technologies.
We are developing an animal model to cryopreserve ovaries containing primordial follicles for the purpose of studying their fertilizing potential. We strive to optimize the cryopreservation protocol, minimize blood vessel damage and conserve the histological architecture of the vessel. Using sheep as the study model we are also examining ischemia-related follicular loss utilizing microvascular anastomosis for long-term survival and fertilizing potential.
The Center has a long-standing record for excellence in scientific publications. We have published more than 500 peer-reviewed original articles and reviews, 100 chapters in specialized medical books and two dozen textbooks pertaining to human reproduction and infertility. Center faculty has presented more than 750 research papers at the leading national and international meetings and conventions.
The Center offers a comprehensive Research Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine. The mission of this program is to train each individual to become a successful independent researcher and, through our unique mentorship approach, a superior professional. Fellowships range from one to four years. Fellows who complete the program emerge as competent physician scientists with an in-depth understanding of human infertility and the skills and training required to carry out substantial and independent scientific research.
