Elliot Pellman, MD Medical Director National Football League Dr. Elliot Pellman is the co-founder and Medical Director of ProHEALTH Care Associates one of the largest independent multi-specialty medical groups in New York State with over 300 physicians. Dr. Pellman is a Clinical Professor of Medicine, Rheumatology and Clinical Professor of Orthopaedics at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and is a nationally recognized leader in the field of sports medicine. He is the National Football League’s Medical Director advising the league on medical and health matters, administrating NFL health committees and serving as the medical liaison to the league’s Clubs, Competition Committee, team physicians, athletic trainers and National Football League Players Association. As the Medical Director of the NFL Players Foundation he has spearheaded many of the NFL Alliances’ health initiatives for retired players. Pellman was the team physician and medical director of the New York Jets Football Club (1988-2010), past President of the NFL Physicians Society (1999-2001) and past Chairman of the NFL MTBI Committee (1994-2007). Since 2003 Dr. Pellman has been a Medical Advisor for Major League Baseball advising the Commissioner’s Office regarding medical committees, medical consultants, medical grants and medical education initiatives. Dr. Pellman has been the Medical Director of the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders since 1996 and is responsible for supervising all medical care to Islander major and minor league players. He has received numerous honors including the 2007 National Hispanic Medical Association Health Leadership Award, the 2008 New York State Arthritis Foundation Sports Leadership Award and in 2010 honorary membership in the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society.
